  • If I don't accept your priviate insurance, I work with Mentaya, a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed. They charge a 5% fee per claim and have helped people get thousands of dollars back per year. You can sign up using this link:

Note: Mentaya's goal is to save you time and money. It's completely optional, and as your therapist I do not benefit in any way from your participation.

  • If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.

  • Duke City Counseling's Good Faith Estimate Info:

The Good Faith Estimate is a mandate implemented January 1, 2022 by the Federal Government to prevent "surprise" medical billing and has been applied to all medical providers and facilities. It "forces" medical providers to list fees clearly to clients. Duke City Counseling has always provided transparency in our billing practices by displaying our fee schedule within our Counseling Policies. Please know that the Good Faith Estimate does not change any agreements you have already made with us with regard to self pay. Your review of this form and signature is required so that we can demonstrate our compliance with the mandate. Click here to view additional information. Thank you!

What are the benefits of NOT utilizing your insurance for therapy sessions?

  • Though insurance requires a diagnosis of a mental disorder for billing purposes, we believe these labels are unnecessary and not required when investing in your therapy through private pay sessions.

  • Without using insurance, your file stays with us. Insurance companies have access to diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress notes. Some people prefer to keep this information private.

  • Not all therapists accept insurance, and self pay allows you to choose the therapist that best meets your needs, regardless of your insurance provider.

  • By avoiding dealing with insurance, we don’t need to naviagate the complex process of copays, deductibles, pre-approvals, and paperwork. Instead, we can focus on meeting and accomplishing your therapeutic goals.

  • What better to invest in than yourself! Some may find it easier to spend time and money on numbing and escaping through social media, food, sex, alcohol, self help books, etc. Taking the first step to make health changes begins here. If you’re ready, let’s get started by contacting us HERE.
